Seeking Whakaora Kai - Food Rescue Support Volunteers

We're starting a volunteer programme for our Whakaora Kai - Food Rescue operation

Whakaora Kai - Food Rescue is the only organisation of its kind in Taitokerau, collecting surplus food from growers and retailers and giving it to groups that need it most, including food banks, schools, marae, and churches.

Would you like to be part of it?

We're looking to build a team of volunteers who can help on Tuesday mornings between 9am and 12.30pm to support the smooth running of our operations. 

An induction and training day will be on the 18th October 2022. 

Key tasks include:

  • Supporting the efficient functioning of Food Rescue Northland as part of the volunteer team to complete delegated tasks which may include, but is not limited to:

1.      Assisting Food Rescue staff with deliveries and pick-ups
2.      Sorting and re-packaging collected food
3.      Keeping area clean
4.      Assisting with administrative tasks

Health and Safety - Please Note This position can be physically demanding, requiring lifting, kneeling, and bending, with loads of up to 20kg.  If you are not able to do this safely please let us know.
