Whakaora Kai is the only organisation of its kind in Taitokerau, collecting surplus food from growers and retailers and giving it to groups that need it most, including food banks, schools, marae, and churches.

Would you like to be part of our team? 

We're looking for volunteers to help in afternoons between 12.30pm and 3pm to support the smooth running of our operations. 

Key tasks could include:

1. Assisting the team with deliveries and pick-ups

2. Sorting and re-packaging collected food

3.   Weighing food and entering information on our database

4.   Keeping area clean

5.   Assisting with administrative tasks

Health and Safety - please note This position can be physically demanding, requiring lifting, kneeling, and bending, with loads of up to 20kg.  If you are not able to do this safely please let us know.
